After the boom of natural cosmetics it was in the last few years more and more difficult for costumers to orientate in what is and what is not really natural. In this situation the german producers of natural cosmetics decided to make rules that would cover using the term natural After 5 years of preparative work in 2001 was created the Directive for Controled Natural Cosmetics. Every new product is judged by the international institut Ecocontrol in Osterode.
It supervises the complement of strict standards for controled natural cosmetics. In base of positive references gains the producer the licence and name Controlled natural cosmetics . What are the conditions that every product must to complete?
1. Vegetable material comes if it is possible from controled ecological agricultura or from certificated picking in wide open spaces.
2. Products or a raw material are not tested on animals. They can not contain materials from animals (animal colagen, spermacety, fat of mink and so on..)
3. It is permitted to use only mineral substances that are demonstrably unharming (kitchen salt..) with exception of point 5.
4. Materials that can be used with limitations: emulgators and surfactans. Permitted are only emulgators and surfactans that are made of vegetable fat, oils and waxes, lecitin, lanolin, beewax, vegetable sugars and starch and vegetable proteins.
Controled natural cosmetics strictly doesn't use:
1. synthetical colours
2. synthetical parfumation
3. silicons
4. paraffine, vaseline and other oil products
5. Conservation: Substances that are permitted beside the conservation systems to provide the micro-biotic purity: benzol acid and it's compounds, salicylic and sorbic acid and their compounds and benzylalcohol.
6. Use of radioactive radiation for providing micro-biotic purity is strictly prohibited.
